As we begin our 4th Summer of Starz Lacrosse, I can't help but think about our small beginning in 2004 with 80 kids getting together for the first competitive, off-season lacrosse club on the West Coast.  Those 80 athletes have quickly turned into 1500 of the top boys and girls lacrosse players west of the Mississippi!  Within the last year these clubs have been a huge asset in launching the Starz Foundation, helping close to 100 student-athletes achieve their dreams of playing collegiate lacrosse. This summer the Starz Foundation will be developing our first fully-funded, inner-city youth team, with many to follow!!

 
 

Thank you for your continued support in our efforts to grow the game in the West.  We look forward to the best summer of Starz yet!

Night for the Starz Wins Big

 

Foundation Night_generalStarz Foundation raises enough money to start inner-city lacrosse

"SoCal Night for the Starz: An Evening in Monte Carlo," at Gallery C in Hermosa Beach on February 24, 2007, raised over $40,000!  The Night's success enables us to fund inner-city lacrosse programs much sooner than anticipated, further supporting our goal of bringing the game to under-served communities on the West Coast. The Starz Foundation is also proud to announce our partnership with LAX in LA, a "non-profit, life-changing lacrosse program in South Central Los Angeles." The Foundation will fully-fund the first of many youth teams to compete in the Starz program this summer by providing equipment, instructors and mentors for each player. Please welcome these kids to the Starz Family and encourage and suppport their growth and participation on, and off the field.

Starz College Counseling program grow

Additionally, the funds raised will help us continue improving the Starz College Counseling program. More than 100 former and current Starz athletes are playing lacrosse at the next level and that number continues to grow as the players and program continues to develop.  Here is a list of some recent Starz NCAA college commitments:

Exciting news from Starz Alumni playing at Albany University!! Shane Moriaty (So), Nathan Sullivan (Fr) and Kyle Brunk (Fr) experienced great success on the field in the 2007 season as Albany is ranked #2 in Division I and are undefeated. Brunk is starting on the man-up unit as a freshman. We are proud of your guys, keep up the good work!

SHINING STARZ

OC HS ChampsMARK MORGAN has been part of the OC Starz Boys' Lacrosse program from the beginning of time.  His enthusiasm and dedication to the game and the Orange HS team led them to their first SoCal Starz Cup Championship for the 2006-2007 Fall/Winter Season.  Congratulations Mark and thanks for all you do to promote the game of lacrosse!
